Getting older is a privilege but there's nothing wrong with wanting to look your best as you age.
There are many ways women can do this, from shampooing correctly to following the best skin care practices.
According to a makeup artist, knowing your way around a makeup bag can also make a big difference.
Makeup artist at FalseEyelashes, Saffron Hughes, spoke exclusively to GB News about the "common mistakes that age you", focusing particularly on women over 50.
'Adding too much concealer underneath the eyes can cause extreme creasing'
GETTY IMAGESSaffron stated: "The expression 'less is more' definitely applies when it comes to makeup on mature skin."
Concealer can completely camouflage imperfections if you use it well. However, applying incorrectly can actually highlight flaws.
The expert said: "Adding too much concealer underneath the eyes can cause extreme creasing, especially when following with a powder to set."
You want to avoid letting your concealer sink into fine lines and wrinkles, which develop under the eyes due to skin thinning, depletion of collagen levels and a loss of elasticity.
For those looking to apply their concealer optimally, one makeup artist shared how professionals use it so it doesn't "crease or look cakey".
The expert revealed that instead of applying the product directly to her face, she applies it to the back of her hand and then transfers it with an eyeshadow brush.
Speaking to makeup enthusiasts on TikTok, Katie Jane Hughes said: "This is an additive trick - you won't be able to stop doing it when you try it.
"And it will give your skin the most flawless finish, but all the while you won't look like you've got any makeup on."
To ensure your concealer sits perfectly on your skin, always use a moisturiser beforehand for hydration. This is because dry skin can accentuate fine lines - which your concealer can sink into.
As for foundation, "less is more" also applies. Saffron said: "Using a heavier, cream-based or full-coverage foundation can cause the makeup to settle into fine lines and creases as you smile or show expression through the day, highlighting any imperfections.
