The expert said: "We're not talking about getting gym clothes on and going to the gym.
"We can wear ordinary clothes, you've just got to be active.
"Take the dog for a walk, take yourself for a walk."
Walking has lots of health benefits and is also a gentle way to burn calories and make the heart healthier.
Diana reassured Britons they can start at any time.
However, she said the best time to start is now as taking up healthy habits as early as possible can have lasting benefits.
"It's never too late to start," Diana told GB News.
"But, of course, if it's been your lifestyle for all those years you're going to get the benefits."
Britons can stay active at any age with simple activities such as going for a walk, taking the stairs or stretching.

This includes full body stretches and moves to loosen up areas such as the back and chest.
She added some advice for those who are bound to an office.
The Green Goddess continued: "If you are office bound, if you sit at a computer, get yourself up. Walk up and down the stairs.
"It keeps you able to have fun with family and friends and able to drive."
This comes as a yoga teacher who can still bring legs over her head at 98 shared her secrets to a healthy life.
