The answer to age-defying skin might be found in supplement form rather than in topical treatments
The benefits of good skin care are undisputed, but a content creator has argued the secret to a young complexion may lie elsewhere.
TikToker Mila, who goes by @milafinds on the platform, recently claimed the missing element in most beauty routines is collagen peptides.
Despite approaching the age of 50, she asserts that her remarkably youthful appearance is owed to the supplements.
“I’m almost 50 and the reason I look 18 is not because I use K Beauty products," Mila told viewers.

“You may have bought all the K-Beauty products on TikTok and you’re not seeing the results.
“The real secret that’s missing from your skincare routine is taking a good collagen peptide.
“I’ve been taking this for the last four years and my skin has never looked better,” added the content creator.
Mila's shared that her chosen supplement contains are combination of additional ingredients good for skin, namely biotin, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid.
“I don’t have to take any other supplements to take care of my skin," added Mila. "Skin care is not just what you put on your face but also what you take.
According to WebMD, most collagen supplements contain types I, II and III, which account for most of the collagen found in the body.
“They contain a digestible form of collagen called collagen peptides or hydrolysed collagen,” the health body has claimed.
“These supplements are made from the tissues of cows, pigs, chickens, or fish. You can also buy vegan collagen powder made of bacteria and yeast.
“But scientists don’t know whether they have the same possible benefits as collagen from animal sources.”

In one clip, she claimed her face didn't look as gaunt as it normally does when she starts losing weight.
“What the studies are saying is that it really does look like these collagen supplements increase the elasticity of the skin,” she told her followers. “I did lose four pounds in the last 27 days, but I don’t feel like my face looks sunken in at all.
