The skin care enthusiast noticed a huge difference after investing in a gadget

Few people go into their 60s without noticing a shift in the texture and luminosity of their skin, and these are difficult to embrace.

Fortunately, certain tools can help slow down the progression of wrinkles and pigmentation, particularly when they appear prematurely.

Sixty-nine-year-old beauty enthusiast Melissa has described an effective way to tackle these concerns on her YouTube channel.

She revisited her skin care regimen after noticing her skin struggle due to hormonal shifts that go hand in hand with menopause.

“There is one big thing that I have added that I think is very important, it has helped my skin; that is red light therapy.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, red light therapy is an emerging treatment that is showing promise in treating wrinkles, redness, acne, scars and other signs of ageing.

“I bought the Omnilux Contour Mask and I love it," Melissa shared in the clip, titled 'My game-changing skin care routine at age 68-69'.

“I started noticing a difference pretty quickly. I can’t tell you how much I like this.

“I didn’t use it as much at first, but then I got on a regular schedule and it really, really started making a difference.”

She added: “I think red light therapy is going to be the skin care of the future. With the exception of Retin-A, I have never seen such a change to my skin.”

Retin-A; the second product mentioned by Melissa, is a prescription form of retinol known as tretinoin.

Traditionally, tretinoin in England can be acquired through a doctor or dermatologist who provides cosmetic skin services.

Anyone interested in tretinoin can consult a doctor through the NHS or online dermatologist to get hold of the product.

When it comes to the rest of her skin care, Melissa likes to keep things simple. She even foregoes moisturiser.

“I don’t use moisturisers on my skin, I don’t like them,” she said. “I feel like my skin is firmer and fresher and feels better if I don’t use moisturiser."

She uses the Shiseido Clarifying Cleansing Foam to clean her face, removing the product with a washcloth.

“I’ve made the decision to never have Botox or fillers or plastic surgery for health reasons, so I am going to do the best that I can with skin care."

She goes in with a vitamin C product by Skin Ceuticals, adding: “It’s marvellous, it’s head and shoulders above everything other than vitamin C, I think."

When she wants to exfoliate, Melissa uses a mild acid in the morning. This helps sweep away dead skin cells. While these products have worked for Melissa, everyone's skin is different and may not respond the same.
