Social media users have heavily promoted the idea that skin care routines should consist of several steps and various products.
Sometimes, however, a simple approach to skin care can be just as beneficial as long as the basics are covered to ensure adequate moisture.
The 73-year-old mother of Kate Keogh on TikTok recently shared the secrets behind her wrinkle-free complexion.
The clip was shared in response to a viewer who, on a previous post, commented: "I refuse to believe she's a day over 50."

Despite the ever-growing popularity of skin care routines, Jane's approach remained remarkably simple.
Her regimen consisted of two basic products, a bar of Imperial Leather soap and Nivea cream, challenging the notion that skin care requires expensive products.
Jane's Daughter, Kate, praised the affordability of the Nivea cream and its moisturising properties.
"It's such a lovely product, it must be £1, and it's just this lovely thick moisturising cream, and it's such a good base for make-up," she said.
The efficacy of adopting a simple approach to skin care was reiterated in the comments.
One user wrote: "My grandma used Nivea and still at 90 and she didn't have a wrinkle! Safe to say it's all I use now."
To date, scientists have pointed to moisture as a crucial factor in young-looking skin, as dryness is a key driver of ageing.
This change occurs as the epidermis naturally loses its ability to retain moisture over time due to decreased levels of hyaluronic acid.

According to Harvard Health, applying hyaluronic acid through topical serums and moisturisers may boost overall hydration.
While Jane's skin reinforces the argument that maintaining skin moisture is more important than using multiple products, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to skin care.
What's more, while skin care plays a role in skin, ageing is not solely determined by skin care.
Lifestyle choices and genetics also significantly influence how the skin ages over time.
