He explained that foods high in vitamin C, for example, citrus fruits and berries, are great for boosting collagen production, "which helps keep the skin firm and reduces wrinkles".
Other sources of vitamin C include peppers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and potatoes.
Similarly, incorporating foods with collagen, such as bone broth, can also be beneficial for the skin.
The experts at SkinGlo Collagen advised consuming plenty of chicken, citrus fruits, legumes, peppers and leafy greens, as these are collagen boosters.
As well as foods high in vitamin C in collagen. Dr Joel recommends consuming foods that are rich in antioxidants.
He explained that leafy greens, nuts and seeds "protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals".
Additionally, those who want to reverse the ageing of their skin should ensure they are consuming omega-3 fatty acids.
These - found in fish like salmon - can keep the skin "moisturised and supple".
The National Institutes of Health said: "Omega-3s are found naturally in some foods and are added to some fortified foods."
For omega-3 benefits, stock up on fish and other seafood (especially cold-water fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, tuna, herring, and sardines), nuts and seeds (such as flaxseed, chia seeds, and walnuts), plant oils (such as flaxseed oil, soybean oil, and canola oil) and fortified foods (such as certain brands of eggs, yoghurt, juices, milk and soy beverages.
