A host of skin care enthusiasts on TikTok have reported a more sculpted facial appearance thanks to gua sha

Gua sha facial tools have gained a lot of prominence in skin care regimens with users reporting multiple benefits.

In a recent TikTok clip captioned the ‘power of Gua sha’, a content creator claimed the tool helped sculpt her face in less than 11 months.

According to WebMD: “Gua sha is a traditional Chinese healing method that uses a smooth-edged tool to press-stroke your skin.”

The health body says key benefits include improved blood flow and reduced inflammation, but the list may be longer.

A host of skin care enthusiasts on TikTok have reported a more sculpted facial appearance thanks to the tool.

Skin care influencer Yuri highlighted how much of a difference the tool makes with a carrousel of before and after pictures taken between April 2022 and January 2023.

“I wasn’t sure if it’ll work but I’m glad I didn’t give it up,” explained the TikTok user (@skinfluencer). "I still cannot believe how much my face shape changed."

Pharmacist Thorrun Govind notes when it comes to facial sculpting, gua sha offers notable benefits when used along the natural contours of the face.

“Many who use it on their face say it helps to reduce puffiness and supports a healthier-looking complexion,” the expert told GB News.

“With consistent use, you may notice reduced puffiness,” she noted. “Fine lines and wrinkles may appear less pronounced due to increased circulation.

“Your skin may feel firmer and more toned, giving the face a softer appearance.”

However, these sculpting results are temporary and should be considered as part of a broader skin care routine.

Despite its widely reported benefits, gua sha requires proper techniques to avoid potential risks like bruising or broken capillaries.

“It’s important to use light, gentle strokes, especially on the delicate skin on the face,” noted the expert.

“People with skin conditions like rosacea, eczema or active acne should avoid gua sha on affected areas.

“Those on blood thinners who have a bleeding disorder must consult a healthcare professional before using gua sha.”
