This ingredient has revolutionised mature skin care

Skin care can provide reassurance to people at every stage of life, regardless of the concerns they face.

For those seeking to maintain a youthful complexion beyond their sixties, retinol has been hailed a real game-changer.

The ingredient has revolutionised mature skin care thanks to its unique ability to target multiple signs of ageing at once.

This makes it particularly helpful for those seeking to address particular challenges like fine lines and hyperpigmentation.

A skin care enthusiast named Laura, known as @glambunnylovesglam online, recently documented her impressive results with the vitamin A derivative.

"Obviously, I made adjustments in my skin care, but there was one ingredient that made a huge difference," she shared.

Her experience echoed what experts have long maintained. She noted: "If you are looking for anti-ageing properties, you need to be doing retinol."

The effectiveness stems from retinol's ability to increase skin cell turnover rate, which addresses multiple concerns simultaneously.

The versatility of retinol has also been highlighted by other skin care fans including Robyn Ann Hampton, who recently discussed how to use the product on her TikTok channel.

She discussed her nine-year success using one of the strongest versions of retinol; tretinoin.

"One of the best things I have ever done for my skin and have continued to do for over nine years is use a retin-A or tretinoin," she shared.

"I started out almost 10 years ago using it once a week, using a pea-sized amount and rubbing it in."

The treatment comes in varying strengths of 0.025 per cent, 0.05 per cent and 0.1 per cent, with doctors typically starting patients on lower doses.

According to Hampton, visible results emerge around the six-month mark: "Probably after about six months, people are going to be saying, gosh your skin looks different, what are doing?"

Experts emphasise the importance of sun protection when using tretinoin, with Hampton specifically urging users to apply sunscreen due to increased skin sensitivity.

"Tretinoin and Retin-A are simply game-changers," Hampton added. "When people ask me What do you do, [it's] tretinoin."
