Women have been advised to use peptides and antioxidants like vitamin C for their skin
Achieving youthful-looking skin is a desire for many older women but knowing how can become complex with the amount of advice out there.
Scientific researcher and skin care expert at Oriflame, Lene Visdal-Johnsen spoke exclusively to GB News on her advice to women wanting to de-age their skin.
Lene shared three tips for women to reduce dark spots under their eyes and reduce the number of wrinkles.
The expert discussed that when women lose collagen and elastin, the structure of their face loses its integrity.

GETTYLene said: "Reduced collagen and elastin production causes the skin to lose its youthful firmness, becoming less dense and plump than before. All of this leads to visibly sagging skin in need of a lift.
"Using ingredients like peptides helps promote collagen and elastin production in the skin, making it appear lifted with fewer wrinkles."
Peptides are made up of amino acids which help protein work in the body, subsequently reducing wrinkles on women's faces.
The skin care expert also recommended using lower concentrations of retinol or retinol-like ingredients as they are good for stimulating skin cell renewal and collagen production, which will improve skin texture.
Dark spots are a common problem women face in the pursuit of youthfulness.
"As we age, skin cell renewal slows down and environmental stressors accumulate. This results in dysfunction in skin pigment melanin production and the formation of dark spots and pigmentation disorders," explained Lene.
To combat this, she advised women to incorporate antioxidants like vitamin C and vitamin E into their skin care routine.
"These can prevent and reduce these spots. Niacinamide is also helpful in achieving a more even skin tone," said the expert.

Making sure your skin is well-hydrated is another prominent factor that is sometimes neglected by women which contributes to ageing skin.
Lene said: "When the skin’s natural oil-water balance is affected by time and accumulation of external aggressions, sebum production is compromised, and the skin gets dry. This results in a dull-looking and prematurely wrinkled appearance."
Women should focus on using products which have hyaluronic acid and glycerine as they are excellent at retaining hydration.
"You can protect your skin from dehydration and attract moisture to keep skin hydrated," said the expert.
"Ceramides are also great allies for strengthening skin barrier function and maintaining moisture in the skin."
