The expert revealed a secret tip behind younger looking skin

According to a plastic surgeon, women can drink their way to younger-looking skin.

Dr Anthony Youn, also known as America's Holistic Plastic Surgeon, revealed that drinking red wine - in moderation - could be a powerful anti-ageing tool.

In a YouTube video about the best foods for healthy, youthful skin, the expert said: "Red wine is really good for your skin - but only about a glass a day.

"The good thing about red wine is that it contains resveratrol, which we are finding is one of the most powerful anti-ageing antioxidants that you can ingest.

"Red wine is the best place to get resveratrol - but that doesn't mean you should have three glasses of red wine a day."

Women were advised to stick to one glass per day. The expert explained that if you consume much more than that, "the toxic effects of alcohol start to outweigh the beneficial effects of the resveratrol".

A journal published in the National Library of Medicine reads: "Resveratrol, a compound belonging to polyphenols, besides its action on the cardiovascular system, affects also wound healing, regeneration, and photoaging of the skin.

"It protects the skin against the harmful effects of type B ultraviolet radiation, which is the main factor in the skin aging processes.

"It also enhances collagen synthesis by activating the oestrogen receptor and reduces wrinkles. In damaged tissues, it accelerates skin regeneration and healing."

Another food that contains skin-boosting resveratrol is chocolate - but crucially, one specific kind.

Dr Youn said: "Dark chocolate is really, really good for your skin, but dark chocolate and milk chocolate are very, very different."

While it may be tasty, the expert explained that milk chocolate isn't good for your skin or your health because it contains too much sugar.

Instead of reaching for a bar of milk chocolate, the expert recommended enjoying dark chocolate with a cacao percentage of 70 or more. The higher the amount of cacao, the more antioxidants and less sugar.

The expert also recommended stocking up on antioxidant-rich veggies - and make sure to "end the rainbow".

He explained: "The wider the array of colours that you eat, the wider the array of pigments and the wider the array of antioxidants.

"Antioxidants are super important because they fight free radicals, which are one of the things that really prematurely ages us."

If you want to look younger, Dr Youn also advised avoiding sugar, processed foods and dairy whilst enjoying good fats and fermented foods.

The plastic surgeon also revealed how you can lift and tighten your droopy neck without going under the knife.
