Neglecting to use a primer could cause fine lines to appear more pronounced and reveal textured skin
When applied correctly, makeup can camouflage your flaws, accentuate your best bits, and even make you appear younger than your age.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, a makeup artist revealed one of her top tips for a quick anti-ageing fix.
Focusing specifically on women over 50, she shared how women in midlife and above can use primer to their advantage.
Makeup artist at FalseEyelashes, Saffron Hughes, stated: "Ageing is a natural and beautiful process. However, you could be adding years to the face just by the way you apply your makeup.

"The way we do our makeup should change with age and by following some professional advice and doing it properly, it can deliver a fresh face."
Sharing a common mistake that can "add years to your appearance", the expert advised against applying your foundation, concealer and more sans primer.
According to Saffron, applying face products without priming the skin first can accentuate signs of ageing.
She stated: "Applying face products without a primer can contribute to fine lines looking more pronounced in addition to creasing, with textured skin peeking through.
"Primers, especially ones formulated with hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, can smooth the canvas of mature skin before you apply foundation or concealer and improve makeup's staying powder.
"Silicone primers can also do wonders for filling heavily textured areas, such as the corners of the eyes or where your smile lines sit."
The experts at the cosmetics giant L'Oréal explained the role of silicones in makeup. They stated: "Silicones are synthetic ingredients that come in the form of oils and gels with a more or less thick texture.
"Silicones are used in some cosmetic products thanks to their unique sensory benefits and properties, as long-lasting effects in lipstick.
"Silicones are smoothing: they give products like creams or makeup a silky, spreadable, luxurious texture. They also give shine and softness in shampoo and other hair care products."
There are many ways women can use makeup to better their appearance. A makeup artist shared her lip liner hack for women over 50 to create "definition" and give the impression of "fullness".
