When applied correctly, makeup can result in an instant transformation. For women over 50, the right products and techniques can take years off their face.
However, the wrong products and techniques can do just the opposite, making ladies look tired and older than their years.
GB News spoke exclusively to FalseEyelashes makeup artist Saffron Hughes about the "common makeup mistakes that age you over 50".
The expert stressed the importance of choosing the right lipstick, explaining that dark, matte varieties highlight thinness and a loss of definition. A natural lip liner and gloss, on the other hand, can be super flattering.

Speaking generally about the power of makeup in your 50s and beyond, Saffron said: "Ageing is a natural and beautiful process. However, you could be adding years to your face just by the way you apply your makeup when that isn't your intention.
"The way we do our makeup should change with age and by following some professional advice and doing it properly, it can deliver a fresh face."
While dark lip colours may be dynamic and sultry, the expert warned that they can highlight signs of ageing in middle age and beyond.
So, next time you're reaching for your deep reds, purples and pinks, you might want to reconsider.
The expert said: "Dark lipsticks, while a seasonal staple - especially in the colder months - can actually add years to the face.
"Our lips become thinner and lose definition as we age, so while it is tempting to overdraw the lips to create the illusion of a fuller pout, it's better to ease away from darker shades.
"Furthermore, as the skin on our lips becomes drier over time, wearing lipstick with a matte finish can draw attention to any texture on and around the lips."
Now this does not mean going sans lip colour altogether - simply go for shades and finishes that inject a pop of colour without emphasising signs of ageing.
Saffron advised: "Try lining your lips with a colour that's no more than one or two shades bolder than your natural lip colour, then follow up with lip gloss.
"The gloss creates dimension for the lips and gives the illusion of a fuller, younger-looking pout."
