A well-tailored skin care routine can dramatically improve how you age, but what you put into your body is also incredibly important.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, a doctor shared how electrolytes help keep you hydrated and, ultimately, improve your skin.
This is according to PhD neuroscientist and co-founder of Phizz, Dr Paul Anastasiades. He said being well hydrated can improve the elasticity of your skin, and protect against premature ageing.
Dr Anastasiades explained: "Electrolytes play a major role in regulating our water levels, helping absorb water and distribute it around the body.

"This is important from a beauty perspective as it keeps our skin hydrated, which helps regulate skin elasticity, keeping it strong and healthy.
"Hydration is also important for your mucosal membranes, the linings of your mouth, nose, and lungs, which act as a barrier to airborne infection and work less efficiently when we get dehydrated."
Indeed, findings published by the National Institute of Health concluded "poor hydration may accelerate biological ageing and increase the risk of chronic disease and death".
Electrolytes help with hydration, and you can get these from a well-balanced diet. Supplements, such as Phizz and sports drinks, can also give you a good hit of the minerals.
This can help Britons improve their hydration and protect against "premature cell ageing", Dr Anastasiades continued.
He said: "Electrolytes also play important roles in key biochemical reactions.
"For example, zinc helps support the healthy growth of our hair, nails and skin, copper is important for proper skin and hair pigmentation, while selenium aids our immune system.

"Many electrolytes are also powerful antioxidants, helping protect our body from the damaging effects of free radicals that contribute to premature cell ageing."
It is also important to keep skin hydrated with external products, and women can benefit from using a good moisturiser twice a day.
Experts at the Mayo Clinic added: "Dry skin shrivels plump skin cells, which can lead to fine lines and wrinkles.
"Make it a habit to gently wash your face and moisturise it every day. Moisturising traps water in the skin."
