As women age, they may notice their hair becoming thinner and lacking the volume it once had. According to an expert, picking the right haircut can combat this and make women look younger.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, Reshma Shah shared four styles in particular that can take years off your appearance.
Reshma said: "Hair can really play a big part in how we appear, and the right hairstyle can help you look younger.
"Layered cuts create movement and texture and make it look fuller and fresher."
To create volume and texture with your hair, consider getting a layered cut

Layered cuts prevent hair from looking flat and give it more volume and thickness. However, avoid going too long with the length, as this can age you.
Reshma explained: "Longer hair can sometimes make us look older, especially if it's weighed down or thinned out."
For a modern option, a longer bob cut can reverse years from a woman's appearance. The expert said: "A longer bob can give a youthful feel without sacrificing length. It’s a flattering and easy-to-maintain option."
Another choice is a parting which creates a fresh and dynamic look for women. Flicking hair over to one side helps break up the face's proportionality.
Reshma said: "A side part, especially if it's a little off-centre, can help add volume and lift to your hair. A middle part can sometimes look too severe or ageing, while a side part adds a youthful touch."
If changing your parting is not for you, light, wispy bangs or curtain bangs can make a huge difference in how youthful a woman looks.
The hair expert added: "Bangs soften the face and draw attention to the eyes. If you're not into full bangs, curtain bangs or layers around the forehead can create the same effect.

Aside from styling, adding different colours and highlights makes the hair appear more toned.
Reshma said: "Adding some highlights or lowlights can add depth and dimension to your hair, making it appear more vibrant and youthful.
"Avoid harsh, contrasting colours that might look too stark or dated. A few highlights around the face can also brighten your complexion."
The importance of colour cannot be undermined. One expert told GB News what hair colours to opt for to achieve a younger appearance.
