Just like the skin, the hair ages over time and will likely change in colour and texture as you get older.
Hairstylist and hair expert Justin Hickox shared the key hair choices women should be making to maintain a youthful look whatever their age.
The expert suggested that to "unlock the fountain of youth", women should change their haircut to match their hair's new texture.
He explained: "As we age our hair texture has a tendency to change, and the particular style you have right now might require more work and effort to achieve the same look because of your new texture.

"Changing into a shape that functions better for your texture will ensure that you actually spend the time necessary to style your hair."
According to the expert, doing this will give mature women a "better" and "more youthful" look.
The hair experts at DevaCurl explained that hair texture is "a term used to describe the thickness or width of each individual strand of hair".
Women may notice that their hair becomes thinner as they get older, so many want to go for a haircut and style that supports and flatters thinner hair.
A short cut like a bob - perhaps an asymmetrical bob or bob with a fringe - could make the hair look lifted and bouncy as opposed to limp and drawn down.
For bonus points add layers, as layers give the illusion of thicker, voluminous locks. Hair expert Justin shared a second hair tip for women who want to turn back the clock.
He suggested that they adapt their hair colour in accordance with their skin ageing.
Like our hair texture, our skin tone tends to change with age, appearing thinner, paler, and clear (translucent).
The expert said that some base hair colours look better with certain skin tones.
