Combatting signs of ageing has become a subject of serious research among scientific circles in recent years.
The research indicates that certain ingredients may support healthy skin as the body approaches old age.
Speaking to GB News, Kerry Dene Ihlenfeldt, partner, commercial and clinical director at IV Boost UK, listed three ingredients that are lauded for their age-defying effects.
“Functional medicine, including targeted vitamin and mineral supplementation, are crucial components of building cellular health and resilience," she noted.

Using supplementation can boost the body’s defences against various environmental factors that hinder physiology over time.
These include excessive sun exposure, exposure to microplastics and air pollution, to name a few.
NAD+
NAD+ is an indispensable nutrient in skin health because it plays a pivotal role in DNA repair, according to Kerry.
Among the many benefits of supplements for human health is the reduction of physical signs of ageing.
NAD+, which is a linchpin to the healthy function of cells as the metabolism of energy, declines naturally as the body ages.
Supplementation of NAD+ comes in various forms, including orally as a pill and in liquid form.
Glutathione
Glutathione is another powerful antioxidant to incorporate into the diet for a healthy immune system.
“It also protects against environmental damage and helps repair skin cells at the cellular level,” noted Kerry. “Glutathione can reduce signs of ageing and detoxify the skin from damage.”
The compound is present in every cell in the body - where it carries out essential processes like detoxification.

Methylene Blue
According to Kerry, Methylene Blue “restore skin health by neutralising free radicals and getting to the root of skin longevity and structural integrity on mitochondrial levels.
The supplement is gaining more and more interest since evidence emerged that it may enhance oxygen uptake of the skin.
“It can also help slow brain ageing,” notes the expert, alluding to the protection it offers against a loss of neurones.
