Glass-like hair has become the envy of people worldwide since garnering more than 48.7 million views across TikTok.
The trend has spurred widespread debate about the best habits for optimal shine, but the jury is still out on which works best. Rinsing hair in cold water for 10 seconds could give great results, however.
Although the texture of a person’s hair is primarily down to their genetic makeup, lifestyle and diet can go a long way to enhance their appearance.
Jonathan Andrew, Fudge Professional global ambassador, claims that rinsing hair in cold water is one way to boost the shine of your locks.

“When rinsing your hair do so with cool water as this will close the cuticle and leave your hair with a fabulous glass finish!” Andrew told GB News.
Aside from removing dirt and grime building up on locks, hot water can also strip hair of the natural oils on the scalp.
Conversely, lower water temperatures help the hair cuticles to lay flat, encouraging light to reflect off hair strands.
Water around 38°C, which is slightly warmer than the average body temperature, should be hot enough to remove filth while protecting the hair’s internal protein structure.
Following up with a cold rinse will help close the pores and make them less sensitive to debris, oil and grease.
Andrew added that avoiding too many products is equally essential for longer-lasting lustre.
“Try to avoid care products that have sulphates as not only this bad for the environment but can be drying to the hair and make it duller,” noted Andrew.
Layering too many products at once risks weighing down the locks and robbing them of their silken glaze.

“It sounds so simple, but the best way to keep your hair looking healthy, and glass-looking is to keep it in good condition," added the expert.
“This means regular trips with your hairdresser to get those dead ends snipped off and making sure that you’re using the correct products for your hair type - ask your hairdresser if you’re not sure.
"In a similar vein, over-cleansing can strip the scalp of much-needed moisture.
"Over-cleansing can strip your hair and make your colour fade quicker, so always use shampoos and conditioners for your needs,” explained the expert, adding that bi-weekly wash is ideal.
