A beauty influencer has shared her list of go-to ingredients for long and thick hair at 53

Hair quality changes drastically over time, but simple interventions can boost thickness and shine at all stages of life.

As women enter menopause, getting the right nutrients offers the best chances of healthy growth and thickness.

A beauty influencer named Cristina confirmed this after telling her followers that Biotin, Silica and Saw palmetto led to the greatest changes in her locks.

Taking to her TikTok platform, she claimed that taken as supplements, the herbal ingredients saved her hair from the "edge of disaster".

"I’m going to give you some incredible tips that have taken me from the edge of hair disaster to having fabulous hair," Cristina explained in a clip titled Thinning Hair over 50. "It’s never too late to have fabulous hair.

"If you’re serious about this you’re going to have to get consistent and you’re going to have to work from the inside out."

Hair uses proteins and fats as its building blocks, so when reserves decline, so does the quality of our locks.

Although there are scores of solutions to these problems, the most noticeable changes come with a commitment to healthy habits.

Cristina recommended upping silica intake, as it encourages hair growth by stimulating the production of collagen.

WedMD confirms this, adding that foods high in silica include green beans, brown rice, lentils, cereal, and lentils.

Biotin is another essential ingredient that has received backing from scientists as a preventative treatment for hair loss.

Saw Palmetto is the third on Cristina’s list of go-to ingredients for luscious hair. Its benefits as a hair loss treatment have been challenged by the medical community, but anecdotal evidence suggests that it works for some.

For guaranteed results, Cristina stressed that it's imperative to take the supplements routinely, every single day.

"Make sure you’re getting those three ingredients every single day," she told her followers.

Hair replenishes its collagen stock with the help of essential amino acids and protein-rich foods in our diet, so eating a variety of foods is also advised.

The jury is still out on whether supplements can mimic the effects of food, but with continued use, many women manage to restore the lustre of their hair.
