Vitamin C can be beneficial for the skin as it is known for brightening and even anti-ageing.
An expert explained how it can also be used to improve your hair.
This is according to clinic lead at Face the Future, Kimberley Medd, who said: "There are some ingredients that may be beneficial for both your hair routine and your skin routine, and some ingredients that should be kept to one and not the other.
"Both our skin and hair resilience can be influenced by lifestyle, genetics, hormones and diet, but the ingredients used can also transform your desired results."

Vitamin C can be applied topically and often appears in skin care products. The expert explained: "Vitamin C is a staple in many skin care routines, with benefits of collagen boosting, reducing hyperpigmentation and brightening the skin's complexion, and minimising wrinkles and fine lines.
"Vitamin C may also be beneficial for the hair, helping with the production of collagen which is vital for hair growth."
Some studies have looked into the impact of vitamin C and collagen. Indeed, a review of this in the National Library of Medicine concluded: "Preclinical studies demonstrated that vitamin C has the potential to accelerate bone healing after fractures, increase type I collagen synthesis, and reduce oxidative stress parameters."
It is because of this that the expert said the product can be as beneficial for growing a healthy mane as it is for younger-looking skin.
Kimberley continued: "Collagen helps to strengthen hair follicles and can promote healthier, thicker hair.
"It may also help to soothe the scalp, reduce dandruff and keep the hair clean through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
"As an antioxidant, the powerhouse ingredient for skin can also be great to protect the hair's health and colour from fading, due to free radical damage caused by UV rays, pollution and environmental stressors."

Vitamin C appears in hair serums, shampoos and treatments. It is also worth eating a diet rich in the vitamin.
The expert added: "Vitamin C helps to balance the scalp's natural oils, preventing the hair from becoming too oily or dry, keeping the hair looking shiny and vibrant."
This comes as women were told ingredients in shampoo and conditioners that "prevent split ends" and "boost hair growth".
