Staying hydrated can help your hair look its best
Many different products can help hair look thicker, shinier and healthier, and a good hair care routine is important.
What you put into your body can also impact your hair and drinking plenty of water is a must, experts explained.
Staying hydrated can strengthen your hair and even help it grow more quickly, according to experts at high-quality extensions specialists Roxy Hair.
They said: "Drinking plenty of water doesn’t just have health benefits; it can also benefit hair.
"Hydration is hugely beneficial for strengthening hair and reducing the risk of breakage. Water rehydrates hair and can also promote growth, so it’s essential to ensure you drink enough water throughout the day."
Water makes up 25 per cent of hair strands so staying hydrated will help them stay strong, as well as helping to keep the scalp moisturised.
Hydrated hair often appears thicker and shinier, and it can feel much softer than dry locks.
Another thing that can be incredibly important when caring for your hair is to use hydrating products such as special shampoos, conditioners, hair oils and hair masks.
The experts continued: "Hair masks are another fantastic way to keep hair looking hydrated.
"After shampooing your hair, simply apply a hair mask from the roots to the tips for three to five minutes before rinsing as usual.
"Using leave-in conditioner sprays after shampooing is another fantastic way to keep your hair looking healthy and hydrated, especially in humid conditions."
This comes as the hair specialists shared a word of warning about a hairstyle that can damage your locks.

They said elastic bobbles can tug at the hair and cause damage, stating: "It’s important to be conscious of the products you’re using. While elastic hair ties are an easy and affordable option, they often cause your hair more harm than good."
"Due to the high amount of friction they place on your hair particles, elastic hairbands tend to increase the risk of frizz.
"They can also result in damaged-looking and tangled hair, especially when applied too tightly.
"Instead, why not try using silk or satin hair ties? These products are much gentler for your hair, reducing the risk of damage."
