"There are so many small, habitual changes you can implement into your hair care routine"

Most of us want hair that is thick, long and glossy - but not everyone knows how to go about achieving it.

While regular trips to the salon are important, the choices you make at home are crucial too.

Hair care expert at Maple Holistics, Caleb Backe, spoke exclusively to GB News about how women can have better hair. One of his top tips is to exclusively use products that contain botanical extracts.

Caleb stated: "There are so many small, habitual changes you can implement into your hair care routine to make an immense difference.

"When making these changes, I'd recommend starting with the products you use. Switch out your shampoo and conditioner for ones that are paraben and sulfate-free, as well as not containing any other potentially harmful chemicals such as synthetic fragrances.

"The best hair care products are the ones with the shortest ingredient lists and ones that contain botanical extracts in their makeup."

Botanical extracts are plant materials with concentrated therapeutic properties.

An article entitled 'Can Plant Extracts Help Prevent Hair Loss or Promote Hair Growth? A Review Comparing Their Therapeutic Efficacies, Phytochemical Components, and Modulatory Targets', published in the National Library of Medicine, confirmed that they have hair-boosting advantages.

Indeed, the experts said: "Well-selected plant extracts and their active compounds can have beneficial effects on hair health."

According to the experts at Formula Botanica, the best hair care herbs are Indian gooseberry, hibiscus, rosemary, eucalyptus, ginkgo biloba, guarana, lemongrass, oat, peppermint and safflower.

These have a myriad of benefits ranging from combatting hair loss to stimulating hair growth to increasing hair elasticity.

A model revealed that adding one of the ingredients to her shampoo made her hair longer and thicker.

But before you start using a new hair product, make sure to speak to an expert such as a hairdresser or dermatologist.

This is important as they can advice you on the best option for you, tailored to your individual hair concerns.

According to Caleb, women can also improve their hair from the inside out. He suggested: "Another factor to consider when dealing with hair care is that healthy hair really does start on the inside, and giving your body the proper fuel it needs can have a huge impact on the health and appearance of your hair.

"For example, eating a healthy, balanced diet and avoiding sugar and fatty, oily foods can have an immense impact on your hair as it's more likely to achieve the nourishment it needs.

"The same can be said for drinking an adequate amount of water every day because your hair's hydration also starts from the inside."
