There is no shortage of hair care products in stores, but not all are built equal.
Speaking to GB News, a dermatologist revealed the key ingredients you should look out for depending on your hair goals.
Of course, everyone's hair is different and everyone will have different goals.
But those striving for for thicker and healthier locks, while reducing hair loss, should look at the ingredient label before making a purchase, according to Dr Hamdan Abdullah Hamed, MBChB, a board-certified dermatologist and trichologist and co-founder of PowerYourCurls.com.
Natural hair products can help hair grow more quickly
GETTYHe said: "Some products can help your hair grow thicker and healthier." In particular, essential oils and serums.
The expert added: "Oils such as rosemary and peppermint might help with better blood circulation in the scalp, possibly aiding hair growth."
Equally, picking a serum with three key ingredients could reduce hair loss - something that becomes more common with age.
Dr Abdullah Hamed continued: "Search for hair items that have ingredients such as saw palmetto, caffeine, or peptides.
"These can help to make hair stronger and reduce the loss of hair." Using natural products is gentle on the hair and the founder of Ecoslay Adria Marshall seconded the benefits of using these. She suggested looking for natural shampoos for shinier hair.
She told GB News: "Your scalp is where hair growth happens, so keeping it clean and stimulated is essential.
"Use a gentle shampoo to cleanse regularly without stripping away natural oils."
Natural ingredients have been proven to promote hair growth and lead to stronger, healthier-looking hair. However, those with more extreme hair loss issues may opt for medication.
The expert said: "Minoxidil can help individuals with pattern hair loss to grow hair back again."

Experts share hair care advice
GETTYTo get the most out of your hair care products, try massaging your scalp when shampooing or applying hair oil.
Adria continued: "I also recommend giving yourself a scalp massage when you wash or even when you're just relaxing.
"It boosts blood circulation, which promotes growth. You can also use peppermint or tea tree oil oils to keep your scalp healthy."
This can be done using your fingertips, or for more help, you can purchase a scalp massaging tool. This improves circulation and stretches the skin of the scalp which can stimulate hair growth genes.
