A gardening expert has explained that mild stress may encourage new blooms
Peace lilies, revered for their angelic white blooms and lush green foliage, are popular in British households.
Proper care is essential for tropical houseplants, however, as they need a little help adapting to the different seasons.
The gardening expert Jane Dobbs, from Allans Gardeners, told GB News: "Blooming can be encouraged by mild stress, such as reducing water or moving the plant to a brighter spot for a short time.
"Nevertheless, avoid extreme chance as this can cause the plant harm. You can give you plants a steady supply of nutrients by mixing compost into their potting mix.

"A compost pile improves the soil's structure, helps retain moisture and provides nutrients."
The expert shared that evening after years without flowers, gardeners can coax peace lilies into bloom with the following tips.
Where to keep your peace lily?
According to Jane, it's best to put peace lilies in a room that has the right balance of light, temperature, and humidity.
"A living room's bright, indirect light is perfect for peace lilies," said the expert. "Plant it near a window with filtered light, like behind sheer curtains or a few feet away from a north or east-facing window.
"In bathrooms, humidity levels are higher, which peace lilies like."
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
Though a kitchen with moderate light and humidity levels may also be good for the plant, it's important not to leave the foliage near direct heat sources like stoves or ovens.
"You can have a peaceful environment in bedrooms if they get enough indirect light, and peace lilies are air-purifying, so they're great for sleeping spaces," added Jane.
For an extra nutritional boost, the expert recommended fertilising the plants with kitchen scraps like banana peels and eggshells.
While banana peels are a great source of potassium, eggshells are abundant in calcium, both of which support healthy plant growth.
