A perfectly tailored care regimen for orchids will consist of several key care techniques

Orchids have long been considered rare and exotic flowers, prized for their beauty but notoriously difficult to cultivate.

But in many ways, the plant's challenging nature has made them a sought-after and exclusive addition to floral displays.

The flowering periods of orchids are relatively short-lived, but with the right watering and feeding regimen, some plants can enjoy blooming periods of up to six months.

Orchid enthusiast Carta Magna managed to achieve this, detailing her plant care routine on the Facebook page Orchid Tricks and Tips.

The orchid's six-month blooming period is a testament to the effectiveness of feeding orchids once a month and letting the plant sit in tap water, according to the user.

The carefully tailored care regimen consists of several key care techniques.

Monthly feeding ensures the plant receives essential nutrients regularly the expert explained.

A constant water level of 100ml-150ml of tap water is maintained, keeping the lower roots "green, fat and juicy". This approach requires watering only once a week.

Notably, the orchid is potted in bark rather than moss, which is deemed "bad for the roots".

The Facebook user, who goes by Magna Carta, told everyone that this is what they do with one of their client's orchids.

At just over three years old, the plant's robust health is evident and inspired other users to make changes to their own regimen.

One person shared in the comments: "Beautiful! Great information I am going to remove the moss from my two orchids."
