The online gardener, from the YouTube channel Orchid Care, shared "how to feed an orchid to make it stronger and stimulate blooming".

They said: "All we need is a lemon. Squeeze one tablespoon of lemon juice into a jug."

The expert explained that lemon juice is really beneficial for orchids because it contains citric acid which reduces water alkalinity and fights mold and bacteria.

The content creator advised next to add approximately 500ml of water at room temperature into the jug and give the mixture a stir.

They said: "To care for the leaves of our orchids, gently rub the leaves with lemon water. Rub both sides of each leaf on your orchids."

By doing this, it will get all of the nutrients from the citric acid to fight against bacteria and keep your orchids feeling healthy.

For the roots, the expert advised people to only water them when they look like they are grey.

They advised: "To care for your roots, water them at room temperature up until you reach halfway up the vase. The roots must start to turn green."

The expert emphasised to people to not get water in the centre of the orchid as it could potentially get damaged.

Overwatering your plants could lead to root rot which may significantly damage your plants.

Overwatering was recently described by a content creator as one of the biggest silent killers that is dangerously damaging people's plants.

They said: "Overwatering is the most common mistake. If you've noticed yellowing leaves, soggy soil or a strange smell coming from your plant pot, there is a good chance that overwatering is a problem."
