Wetherspoon pubs across the UK and Ireland are set to introduce a new premium draught lager to their beer selection.

The French premium lager, 1664 Bière (4.6 per cent ABV), will be added to the company's existing range of draught beers.

This new addition brings a touch of French brewing excellence to the popular pub chain's beverage offerings.

The premium lager joins Wetherspoon's international beer selection, which already features draught options from countries including Belgium, Denmark, Mexico, Scotland, the USA and Italy.

The new premium lager will be priced at £3.99 a pint in the majority of Wetherspoon pubs (681 locations).

Customers can also take advantage of the Monday Club deal, which offers 1664 Bière at just £3.20 a pint, except in Scottish pubs.

The French lager will also be included in Wetherspoon's popular "includes a drink" offer.

This means customers can select 1664 Bière as their beverage of choice when ordering many main meal options.

The new lager is brewed with hops from the Alsace region of France, an area renowned for its rich gastronomy and brewing history.

1664 Bière boasts over 360 years of brewing heritage, having personified a supreme taste since 1664.

Customers can expect a refreshing and crisp golden lager that offers a perfectly balanced flavour profile.

The premium beer features distinctive floral notes complemented by a delicate bitterness.

Pub-goers will have the opportunity to try international beers never before seen in the UK.

The festival features real ales from countries including Australia, Canada, Italy and the US.
