Weetabix has confirmed that a popular cereal has been scrapped and shoppers are distraught.
Weetabix Golden Syrup hit supermarket shelves in April 2022 but has not "met the expectations" of the cereal company.
A fan of the cereal took to Facebook with the sad news. She discovered that the breakfast item had been axed when she contacted Weetabix directly.
Posting on 'Discontinued and Nostalgic Snacks and Blasts from the Past!', the disappointed customer said: "Weetabix Golden Syrup is no more."

The attached message she had received from the cereal company read: "Thank you for your enquiry regarding the availability of Weetabix Golden Syrup.
"I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but, unfortunately, this product did not meet our expectations and as a result, the decision was taken to permanently withdraw it from our range."
The Facebook post garnered lots of attention from Weetabix fans, with hundreds commenting and reacting to the announcement.
One said: "Well that explains why I can't find it anywhere - gutted." Another lamented: "I loved them."
A third stated: "Gutted! I’ve had to resort to the banana one which isn’t as nice." Another said: "This was the best one!"
The discontinuation of the cereal has upset both adults and children alike. One social media user said; "My son was heartbroken. He loved these."
One crafty Weetabix fan offered a solution: "Just buy plain Weetabix and some golden syrup."
Another chimed in: "Just put golden syrup on them. Was doing it before they were even a thing."

But not everyone was saddened that Weetabix Golden Syrup is no more. One shopper said: "I'm not surprised, they tasted awful."
