The beers could be potentially dangerous for anyone with coeliac disease or wheat allergies

The Cotswold Brewing Company Limited has issued a recall for two of its beer products due to undeclared wheat content, which poses a significant health risk for individuals with gluten allergies or intolerances.

The products affected are Hawkstone Black and Hawkstone Spa Lager, which contain gluten not mentioned on their labels.

The company is taking immediate action to remove these products from circulation.

Consumers who have purchased either of these products and have gluten-related health concerns are being advised not to consume them.

The Food Standards Agency has issued an Allergy Alert regarding these products as part of standard procedure when food items present allergy risks due to incorrect or missing labelling.

The recall specifically affects all batches of Hawkstone Black in 440ml cans and Hawkstone Spa Lager in 330ml cans. Both products contain wheat (gluten) which is not declared on their labels.

"This product contains wheat (gluten) making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease," states the company's risk statement.

Gluten allergies and coeliac disease can cause serious health complications when affected individuals consume wheat products.

Symptoms can range from digestive discomfort to more severe reactions in sensitive individuals.

The undeclared allergen was discovered during routine testing, prompting the immediate recall action.

The company has emphasised that no other Cotswold Brewing Company products are affected by this issue.

The Cotswold Brewing Company Limited has contacted relevant allergy support organisations to inform their members about the recall.

The brewery has also issued point-of-sale notices to customers explaining why the products are being recalled and what actions to take.
