Tesco shoppers have voiced their annoyance after being subjected to long online queues to book Christmas delivery slots.

The supermarket issued a warning that customers only had until midnight last night to sign up for one of its Delivery Saver or Click-and-Collect plans, allowing them to book slots from 6am this morning.

However, the seemingly straightforward booking process has caused commotion for some customers today.

One Tesco said on X: "Really confused by the Tesco app this morning. I was under the impression Christmas delivery slots were out - waited 45 minutes in a 'queue' to find nothing available after December 2. @Tesco what have I missed?!"

Another vented their frustration: "Tesco just queued for over an hour and when I get in I can’t book beyond early December?!"

A third agreed: "Waited for a Christmas slot with my delivery saver plan and will only go up to December 2?"

One described the situation as "complete madness", accusing Tesco of "creating a monster by making a big deal of releasing the delivery slots for Christmas".

Another Tesco shopper faced the same issue and reached out to the supermarket with their concern. The disgruntled shopper said: "I've waited in the queue for over an hour and now your app has let me in I can’t book anything after December 2."

Another said: "Guess being unable to book a Christmas slot is common at the moment."

A social media user voices their concern: "I waited over an hour and a half in line for a Christmas slot, go to check out to find the latest slot I can book is November 26?! What?"

Another agreed: "Sat in an Xmas delivery queue for 90 minutes only to get thrown out when I’m told it's my turn - it’s like the Oasis ticket scandal all over again haha."

A shopper seconded this: "It was easier and quicker getting @oasis tickets than it was a @Tesco Xmas home delivery slot."

"I was told I was at the head of the queue at 7:30 to book a Christmas slot but the app was spinning when you got in," another confused Tesco shopper said. "Been like this for nearly 25 minutes."

One customer revealed that they were faced with a wait time of over one hour to book their slot. They lamented: "Are people pre-queuing from like 2am?!"

Others were rather lucky with their booking though. One happy customer rejoiced: "Christmas slots @Tesco checked out by 6:02am this year - felt a lot smoother than past years, cheers! Reckoned an 18-minute queue at 6am but was then straight in and out."

Another said: "Wow! Tesco Christmas delivery booked in under 10 minutes! Got the date and time I wanted too. Nice one @Tesco."

Spokespeople from the supermarket responded to all the comments, encouraging affected customers to send them a direct message with more details about the issue.

Tesco has told GB News that there are still slots available for both Home Delivery and Click + Collect customers over the Christmas period, including in the period leading up to Christmas Day. There is currently no queue to book a slot on Tesco's website and app.
