Sainsbury's has now resolved the issue

Sainsbury's took to social media this morning as many were left without their online orders.

According to Downdetector, more than 500 customers have had issues with the supermarket's delivery service.

Disappointed Sainsbury's shoppers took to X this morning to question why their orders had not arrived. The supermarket has since explained this morning's delivery chaos, telling customers that they will receive an e-voucher.

One shopper said on X: "The absolute cheek of Sainsbury’s completely ghosting their customers about their deliveries being cancelled today. I live in a rural area and they haven’t even bothered to phone, text or email me about my order being cancelled this morning. Disgusting service."

A spokesperson from Sainsbury's responded: "Hi There. I'm sorry for the tech issue. We're aware there is an issue and we're working to have it fixed ASAP."

Another fumed at the supermarket: "The night before my parents' 50th wedding anniversary party, you emailed to tell me a significant part of my ‘food to order’ would be missing. I had to spend the morning desperately trying to make 80 sandwiches. Now I have spent the last 10 days chasing promised my refund."

In response, a spokesperson from Sainsbury's said: "Hi there. Sorry about not receiving your refund. Our Food to Order team can help on 0330 123 1129. Give them a call and they can help further."

Another shopper took to X in frustration: "My 80-year-old mum has called me (100 miles away) because her shopping hasn’t arrived and there has been no text with any info. We’re both trying to call your ‘Help’ line but it cuts you off and your website discourages human help. Any ideas?!"

A spokesperson from Sainsbury's replied: "I'm really sorry your delivery has been cancelled for today. The team will be issuing an e-voucher shortly via email, along with details on how to rebook the delivery. Sorry again for all the inconvenience this has caused you."

The disgruntled shopper responded: "Why has it been cancelled? My mum received a message that the order was received and no further info to tell her there was any problem. She’s waiting in and now you’re saying she has no shopping! This is unacceptable.

Sainsbury's replied: "A large amount of orders have been affected due to a technical issue we're experiencing. Sorry again for all the inconvenience this has caused you."

Calling the supermarket "useless", one shopper said: "Why on earth am I, along with everyone else, finding out from Twitter that my delivery is cancelled? Just sat waiting for it for an hour."

The supermarket responded: "I'm really sorry your order has been cancelled. You'll be receiving an email with an e-voucher and details on how to rebook shortly."
