More batches have been found to contain salmonella

A salmonella warning has been shared for tahini sold in supermarkets including Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's.

More batches have now been included and Britons have been urged to check again to see if they are affected.

Batch code 3355, 4004, 4023, 4024, 4039, 4040

Best before All date codes between July 2024 and December 2025

The Food Standards Agency said: "AB World Foods Ltd is recalling Al’Fez Natural Tahini because salmonella has been found in the product.

"This product recall has been extended to include more ‘best before end’ dates and an additional pack size. This replaces the previous alert.

"Salmonella has been found in the product listed above. Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps."

Manufacturers Al'Fez added: "If you have one of the products detailed above, please return it to the store for a full refund. You do not need a receipt.

"If you purchased it online, contact the Al'Fez consumer care team on (UK) 0800 0195 617, (ROI) 0044 800 0195 617 or at consumer.services@abworldfoods.com."

The cupboard staple was sold in many UK supermarkets. Sainsbury's shared an update for customers.

It said: "Al’Fez is taking the precautionary step of recalling the above date codes of 160 gram jars of Tahini sold in stores across the UK. The decision has been taken due to a risk of a possible presence of salmonella.

"No other Al’Fez products, date codes or best before dates are affected. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused."

Supermarkets Tesco and Morrisons have also shared the warning with customers and stated they can return the products to stores for a full refund.

The supermarket said: "Marks & Spencer is recalling Chocolate Cornflake Mini Bites due to the undeclared presence of hazelnut, oats and wheat flour in a small number of packs.

"Please do not consume this product if you have an allergy or intolerance to hazelnut, oats or wheat flour.

"If you wish to exchange the product, you can return it to your nearest store where a full refund will be given. Only the displayed date codes are impacted.

"No other M&S products are affected. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused. For more information contact us on 0333 014 8555."
