The products are being recalled due to undeclared allergens: milk, wheat, soya and mustard

Waitrose is the latest supermarket to recall food products because they may be unsafe for some people to eat.

It has been discovered that two items from the Easy to Cook range have undeclared allergens.

Waitrose issued a statement for one of the recalled products. The supermarket said: "We are recalling Waitrose Scottish Salmon En Croute due to undeclared allergens; Milk, Wheat, Soya and Mustard."

Customers were told to "not consume" the product and instead, package it up and return it to their local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund.

Those who require further information can contact Waitrose Customer Care at 0800 188 884, Option 4.

Waitrose stated: "We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused."

The supermarket added that it "would like to assure customers of our continued commitment to the highest standards of product quality and food safety".

This Waitrose warning comes as supermarkets extended their recall over food sold across the UK that could cause vomiting and difficulty breathing.

Various items have been withdrawn in recent days as they could contain an undeclared allergen.

Two foods sold at Iceland have recently been added to the massive recall. These products pose a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) offered some essential information on allergy alerts.

Britons were told: "Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. Then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).

"Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk.

"When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert."
