The food poses a health risk to anyone with a nut allergy

An urgent recall has been announced for Cheshire Farm's Caramelised Biscuit Ice Cream due to it posing potential health risks.

The recall was issued as the product contains undeclared hazelnuts, presenting a risk to consumers with nut allergies.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the recall after the allergen was found to be missing from the product's label.

Cheshire Farm has taken immediate action to remove the affected products from store shelves.

Nut allergies present several health risks. The NHS said: "A food allergy is where your body reacts to certain foods. It's often mild but can be very serious for some people.

"Common symptoms of a food allergy include: feeling dizzy or lightheaded, coughing, wheezing, breathlessness, noisy breathing or a hoarse voice and diarrhoea."

The FSA issues food recalls when there is a risk to consumers, particularly in cases where allergy labelling is missing or incorrect.

This recall is part of the FSA's standard procedure to protect consumers with food allergies.

A series of cheeses that may be contaminated with a species of pathogenic bacteria have also been recalled.

The FSA warned Britons that JOD Food Products has recalled 18 cheeses. Some of the affected products are sold at Spar and Tesco Ireland.
