Mini hashbrowns will be introduced to the McDonald's UK breakfast menu this October

McDonald's is set to introduce a new breakfast item to its UK menu, delighting fans with a selection of new morning offerings.

It announced that mini hashbrowns will be available across the fast-food giant's 1,300 plus UK locations starting October 16.

The latest addition will complement McDonald's existing larger hashbrowns, which have been a breakfast menu staple for years.

While the current hashbrown is priced at £1.19 and contains 127 calories, the new mini version will offer customers more variety in portion size and pricing options.

It remains unclear whether the mini hashbrowns will become a permanent fixture or if they will only be available for a limited time.

The treat will come in two portion sizes. A five-piece serving will cost £1.49, while a larger 15-piece share box will be priced at £2.99.

The current breakfast menu includes a variety of options, including:

Mighty McMuffin - £5.19
Egg & Cheese McMuffin - £2.39
Breakfast Wrap - £4.99
Bacon Roll - £3.19
Breakfast Roll - £3.39
Cheesy Bacon Flatbread - £1.49
Bacon & Egg McMuffin - £2.79
Double Bacon & Egg McMuffin - £3.19
Muffin with Jam - £1.49
Hash Brown - £1.19
Pancakes & Syrup - £3.49
Pancakes & Sausage with Syrup - £3.99
Porridge - £1.99

It's worth noting that menu availability may vary by location.

This isn't McDonald's first foray into new breakfast items. In 2022, the chain added mini potato waffles to its morning menu, though these were discontinued the following year.

Fans reportedly preferred the waffles to the traditional hashbrowns.

Meanwhile, speculation is brewing about the potential return of the McRib. A test notification on the McDonald's rewards app hinted at its comeback.

When questioned, a McDonald's spokesperson said: "McDonald's is always looking to innovate with new and exciting menu items, as well as bringing back the fan favourites."

The McRib first appeared on UK menus in 1981 but was removed in 1985.
