Aldi's Mini Love Pancakes have similarly sparked interest, with customers sharing comments such as, "These are super cute!", "Need to try" and "I'm getting them".

Those after something sophisticated and savoury have delighted over Aldi's French Camembert with Red Pepper Swirls Sharing Bread Heart.

For those who have yet to buy their Valentine's Day sweet or savoury staples, M&S and Aldi have plenty on offer for both romantic and Galentine's celebrations alike.

M&S introduced its "most luxurious" meal deal ever to celebrate the day of love, allowing couples to feast for £12.50 per person.

Complete with a starter, main, side, dessert and drink, M&S' deluxe meal allows for decadent dining at home - although interested parties only have until the end of the day to snap it up.

Ahead of the romantic festivities, M&S also brought back "everyone's favourite treat", as Colin and Connie the Caterpillars reunited as lovebirds this February.

The limited-edition matchmaker cakes are half-sized 335g treats, described as "chocolate-filled chocolate sponge rolls, complete with milk chocolate and decorated with white chocolate cupid wings".

Shoppers took to social media to express their delight, with comments including "How cute are these two" and "Very cute indeed".

The cakes proved popular for friendship celebrations too, with one shopper embracing the Galentine's concept. The M&S shopper stated: "Hahaha yes, Galentine's Day treat for us from us."
