British supermarket Asda has issued a product recall on some batches of the Nutramigen LGG Stage 1 and stage 2 (400G).
According to the Food Standards Agency, both products are foods used for special medical purposes for infants.

Asda told shoppers: “As a precaution Reckitt are recalling the attached batches of the Nutramigen LGG Stage 1 and stage 2 (400G) set out in this notice due to an isolated overseas sample of the product testing positive for Cronobacter Sakazakii.
“Symptoms caused by Cronobacter sakazakii usually include fever and diarrhoea.
“If you have purchased Nutramigen LGG Stage 1 or stage 2 (400G), Expiry date July 1, 2025, please bring it back to your nearest pharmacy store where colleagues will support with further instructions.”
The supermarket apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged customers to contact Asda Customer Relations at 0800 952 0101 or Reckitt Telephone Number at 01895 230575 for further information.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) echoed Asda’s advice.
The Government department said: “Reckitt has taken the precautionary step of recalling Nutramigen LGG stage 1 and stage 2 Hypoallergenic Formula powders because of the possible presence of Cronobacter sakazakii.
“Both products are foods used for special medical purposes for infants.
“The products are mainly prescribed but are also available without a prescription.”

The FSA issued a risk statement: “The potential presence of Cronobacter sakazakii in the products listed above.
“Symptoms caused by Cronobacter sakazakii usually include fever and diarrhoea, and in severe cases may lead to sepsis or meningitis which include symptoms in infants including poor feeding, irritability, temperature changes, jaundice (yellow skin and whites of the eyes) and abnormal breaths and movements.”
This comes as Asda recently recalls the popular Asda brand apple and pear juice drink.
The supermarket issued this recall due to potential metal contamination in the straws.
In recent weeks Waitrose recalled its No 1 Waitrose and Partners, Farmhouse Kirkham’s Lancashire cheese, among others.
The recalled cheeses may be contaminated with E. Coli bacteria, which can cause food poisoning with symptoms including vomiting, stomach cramps and fever.
