A new sweet and savoury egg has sparked controversy in the lead-up to Easter

Domino's has launched a world-first Garlic & Herb Easter Egg, blending the creamy sweetness of white chocolate with the bold, savoury flavour of its legendary dip.

This limited-edition twist on tradition offers something completely unexpected for the Easter table.

The Garlic & Herb Easter Egg comes with a 25g Garlic & Herb Dip for those who dare to experience the two together.

Domino's ambassador for "eggs-troadinary flavours" Izzy Gardener said: "Easter is the perfect time to treat yourself, and we wanted to bring a fun, flavour-packed twist to the traditional chocolate egg.

"This Easter Egg is for the Garlic & Herb Dip fans who want to mix things up this year. Why hunt for chocolate when you can crack open the ultimate Easter treat?"

The limited-edition eggs will be available until Monday, April 14. Domino's has warned that chocolate lovers must be quick, as the unusual eggs "won't be around for long".

But as the nation gears up to celebrate Easter, Britons have expressed mixed reviews about the egg.

Commenting on the Instagram food tester's account @bigdaddybsfoods, Domino's fans were completely astounded by the concoction.

One user said: "This is one of my favourite dips of all time, but I would need to taste it to believe it because this seems mad."

Others could not quite believe what they saw. They noted: "Is this real? What? I want it to be real."

A third social media disapproved, stating: "This is wrong on every level, and some things just shouldn't be done.

"This is an example of that. I love chocolate and garlic, but never together. This one is the most ridiculous thing I've seen yet."

In other food news, shoppers across the UK have been warned not to eat Tony's Chocolonely Easter eggs due to possible metal contamination.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) shared important information for Britons who may have purchased the affected items.

Consumers were told: "If you have bought any of the above products, do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a refund or replacement."
