Customers with an allergy or intolerance to milk have been urged to avoid the product

Aldi has issued a recall for its Inspired Cuisine Baby Potatoes with Herbs and Butter product due to undeclared milk content, which poses a potential health risk to consumers with milk allergies or intolerances.

The supermarket chain is taking immediate action to remove the affected items from shelves across the UK.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has published an allergy alert regarding the product, warning customers who have purchased it and have milk allergies to avoid consumption.

"If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it," the statement read. "Instead, return it to the store it was bought from for a full refund."

This recall highlights the serious nature of undeclared allergens in food products, which can cause severe reactions in sensitive individuals.

The affected product is the 385g pack of Inspired Cuisine Baby Potatoes with Herbs and Butter with a use-by date of April 12, 2025.

Allergic reactions to milk can range from mild to severe, with symptoms potentially including digestive issues, hives, and in some cases, anaphylaxis.

The FSA has classified this as an official allergen alert, which is issued when there is a risk to consumers because allergy labelling is missing or incorrect.

The supermarket has been advised to contact relevant allergy support organisations, which will inform their members about the recall.

Point of sale notices are being displayed in all retail stores selling this product, explaining the reason for the recall and providing guidance to customers.

Meanwhile, Anglesey Foods Ltd is recalling various jams, chutneys and pesto products because they contain undeclared barley (gluten) and/or sulphites.
