Britons can get their hands on the gin - complete with its new packaging - from May 23
Aldi has announced the launch of a paper gin bottle made from 94 per cent recycled paperboard - a world first for an own-brand supermarket product.
The supermarket said: "Shoppers went wild when Aldi launched the first ever own-brand paper wine bottle earlier this year, and the supermarket hasn’t stopped there.
"Today it announces the launch of the world’s first supermarket own-brand paper gin bottle. The award-winning Greyson’s London Dry Gin (£13.99, 70cl) will now be available to buy in lightweight paper bottles from May 23."
The packaging is both environmentally and lightweight, so it will be very easy to transport.

Aldi said: "Made from 94 per cent recycled paperboard and lined with a food-grade pouch to contain the gin, the easy-to-carry, shatterproof bottle is recyclable and five times lighter than a standard glass bottle - perfect for bank holiday picnics."
As for what's inside the planet-friendly bottle, Aldi’s Greyson’s London Dry Gin is an "elegantly smooth and complex tipple that boasts bright citrus and juniper flavours, complemented with botanical hints for a delicately refined finish".
Managing director of buying at Aldi UK Julie Ashfield commented on the exciting launch.
She said: "We’re thrilled to be launching our well-loved Greyson’s gin in paper packaging – a significant step towards fostering sustainable change.
"The paper bottled wine has been a hit with shoppers and we’re excited to extend this out into the spirits category."
Aldi has worked with FrugalpacTM on the supermarket-first initiative. FrugalpacTM is "on a mission to reduce the impact of carbon on the planet through engineering sustainable packaging, using recycled paper, that is both light in weight and can be recycled".
Aldi's paper gin bottle follows a series of sustainability initiatives by the supermarket. Aldi saw the introduction of the first own-brand paper wine bottle and own-brand flat recycled PET wine bottle, which are both available in stores now.
The discount supermarket is also reducing the wine label size across its popular Grapevine range.
The labels are FSC-certified and made from 100 per cent recycled paper fibre. These are available on both bottles in stores now, but customers can expect the initiative to roll out across all permanent lines by 2026.
Shoppers who want to get their hands on Aldi’s Greyson’s London Dry Gin Paper Bottle can do so in stores from May 23. They are also available through Click & Collect.

Aldi has delighted customers recently by bringing back several beloved products. The supermarket relaunched an "iconic" £1 snack that was first released in 2023.
Pet lovers also have plenty to be excited about at the supermarket. Aldi recently relaunched an adorable £2.99 pet snack.
However, shoppers have been told they must act fast as the products are Specialbuys, which means "once they're gone, they're gone".
