The fan-favourite drink may return to shelves later in the year, according to a store representative

Aldi has dealt a blow to shoppers after confirming that one of its “lush” summer beverages was axed from shelves.

Taurus Cherry Cider typically comes in a four-pack of 400ml cans and is currently out of stock in-store and online, the supermarket announced.

Shoppers have hailed Aldi's own-brand cider as a cheaper alternative to Strongbow's Cherry Blossom drink.

The supermarket's alcohol selection is a huge hit with shoppers because it retails at competitively low prices.

Eagle-eyed shoppers quickly noticed Taurus Cherry Cider missing from shelves, with writing on X: “@AldiUK is [it] true that your cherry cider has been discontinued?”

A representative for the store named Amy quickly responded: “I’ve had a look and this item is part of our Seasonal range. Which means you gotta enjoy it while it’s here.

“I’ll let the team know you wanted it though, and hopefully you’ll see it on our shelves again this year.”

Fans have previously described the cherry cider as “lush” in a Facebook group created by Aldi regulars.

While Aldi’s cider products are popular with shoppers, they have landed the supermarket in hot water in the past.

Cider maker Thatchers sued the German company in 2022, accusing them of mimicking their Cloud Lemon Cider, the Sun reported.

Lawyers argued that the design of Aldi’s £3.99 four-pack looked highly similar to Thatcher’s ‘zingy and refreshing’ £5.75 product.

A writ claimed that such similarities would cause "checkout confusion", hitting sales and causing "injury to its reputation".

It said: “Shoppers should run not walk to their closest Aldi as the supermarket has announced it will be slashing the price of its viral Chassaux Et Fils Atlantique Rosé, 75cl to under a fiver from April 29 until May 5, just in time for the bank holiday.

“This rosé is an elegant, subtle wine with aromas of strawberry and watermelon and flavours of tangy raspberry and red cherry.

“Returning to shelves as part of the supermarket's Spring Summer range, the popular rosé offers unbeatable value, available for just £4.99 from £6.99, offering a 28 per cent saving.

“Dry and fresh, this is an easy-drinking wine that is perfect for long evenings and is sure to wow guests at any bank holiday celebration."
