Motorists have been issued with a major car warning this autumn and winter which could lead to more dangerous conditions on the road and potentially even car fires.
Temperatures up and down the UK are starting to drop with many drivers preparing themselves and their cars for the colder weather.
This comes as the Met Office has warned Britons about the impending threat of Storm Babet which will bring heavy downpours and strong winds.
In addition to the severe weather warnings issued, motorists are being warned to look out for less obvious dangers when driving during adverse weather conditions.

Leaves are starting to fall from the trees and drivers could be impacted by issues on the road and when the vehicle is parked.
In the worst-case scenario, failure to clear leaves from under the car bonnet could cause a devastating fire.
Foliage could be piled up on top of the engine and when the car starts, it could overheat and set the leaves on fire, which could have serious consequences.
Motorists should make sure to clear anything from their bonnets and windscreens before they set off in the morning to prevent anything bad from happening.
Soggy leaves could also damage the bodywork of the vehicle and lead to rust problems developing on the car.
When leaves decompose, the tree sap and tannic acid can gradually take off the paint coat, which could result in expensive repair fees.
Tim Alcock from LeaseCar.uk said: “Autumn can be a frustrating time for drivers as it’s likely many will wake up to find their car has been buried in a pile of fallen leaves.
“It may feel like a nuisance having to clear leaves off the car, but it’s vital to keep on top of it as leaving them on the vehicle imposes serious safety risks.
“Drivers need to clear the leaves from their vehicles regularly, otherwise they face putting themselves in a life-threatening situation.
“Engine fires, tainted paintwork and tyre skidding are all common issues which can be caused by what seems to be a harmless pile of leaves.”
Motorists should also be mindful of driving with wet leaves attached to their tyres which can dramatically increase the chances of skidding if it builds up over time.
In extreme cases, the leaves could cover the windscreen and land drivers with a hefty £1,000 fine and penalty points on their licence.
If a driver cannot see out of the windscreen, this can have a major impact on their ability to drive and view the road and any dangers ahead of them.
Drivers who do not clear their windscreens before setting off could be judged to be “using a vehicle in a dangerous condition”.
