Understanding how many calories your body needs to consume is a good starting point when beginning a weight loss journey.
A slimmer who lost 3st 3lb shared how by working out his calorie intake and following a dietary method, he successfully slimmed down.
Davie Stewart spoke on his YouTube channel (@SweatingForADonut) about the importance of understanding the basics of weight loss and how he applied that knowledge to his own journey.
He said: "This method has helped millions lose weight and has finally helped me drop 3st 3lb without needing to go to the gym.

YouTube/Sweating For A Donut"The part people do not take the time to learn is how their body burns calories. Once you get this, you are in control."
The slimmer explained the body uses calories in four ways, the most important of which is the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).
Davie said: "Your BMR works for about 70 per cent of your total calories burned in a day."
Your BMR is the "absolute foundation" for calculating the number of calories your body needs in a day, as it helps determine your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).
The content creator said: "Understanding your TDEE is critical if you want to maintain, lose or gain weight. Your calorie intake is so important to helping you reach your goals."
Within your BMR calculator, be honest about how often you move, as "lying will only cheat yourself".
Once individuals know their TDEE, they can execute a calorie deficit, which is "when you eat fewer calories than your body needs", by burning fat stored for energy.
Davie advised: "You do not have to cut loads. Anything from 200 to 400 calories a day will lead to a pretty decent reduction in weight."

Another slimmer who lost 6st 6lb claimed one type of exercise outperformed all others for their weight loss.
Content creator Bilan suggested hitting 10,000 steps outperformed all other forms of exercise during her weight loss journey.
"If losing weight is one of your 2025 goals and you're not going for walks, what are you doing?" she recently told viewers.
She added: "I used to believe people were gaslighting me when they said walking made them lose weight, questioning why her previous efforts at the gym weren't as effective.
"I was like, 'how am I going to the gym, weightlifting, doing 12-3-30, using the StairMaster, and not seeing results — but you're just walking and getting results?"
