Getting enough sleep is surprisingly important when trying to burn fat
Sleep is often the first thing to be compromised when life gets busy, but sleeping enough has many benefits.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, a fitness expert shared how much you should sleep every night for weight loss.
A good night's sleep keeps your heart healthy, improves mental health and reduces stress levels.
It is also key for weight management. When sleep-deprived, slimmers may feel low in energy.
Sleep can stabilise the metabolism

This can encourage them to make unhealthy choices, such as reaching for sugary snacks and skipping workouts due to lack of energy.
It can also help stabilise the metabolism which is responsible for how quickly the body burns fat, certified personal trainer and owner of Jack City Fitness Marshall Weber shared.
He told GB News getting at least seven hours of shut-eye every night is the optimal amount for losing weight.
The expert added: "Getting enough sleep and managing stress help balance the hormones that control hunger and the metabolism.
"Shoot for seven to nine hours of quality sleep each night and try incorporating meditation or deep breathing into your routine when necessary."
While sleep does not necessarily increase your metabolism, not sleeping enough can damage it.
Research from the University of Chicago suggests the metabolism can become "groggy" when tired and the body finds it more challenging to process insulin.
Another way to aid weight loss aside from diet and exercise is to be mindful of what you drink.
