Most weight loss candidates are asked to adhere to an exercise and diet regimen when they embark on their transformation, but underlying issues like a larger stomach can make weight loss seemingly impossible for some individuals.
A range of new treatments that have flooded the weight loss market in recent years are becoming key players in the battle against obesity.
One of these treatments is the weight loss balloon, which expands into a gastric band containing water and requires no surgery at all.
A head teacher named Alice Dawson has spoken favourably about the treatment after it helped her drop two dress sizes. She also overhauled what she ate, specifically by reducing portion sizes.

Having fallen into a perpetual cycle of yo-yo dieting throughout her life, she claims the pill helped “silence” her food noise.
Alice had struggled with her weight for more than 20 years and dabbled in many different types of diets.
The Briton, from Huddersfield, Leeds, said: “I had an epiphany. I realised I needed a solution that was effective but less invasive than surgery.
“I was previously diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and hypertension which are of course very serious. I also suffer from asthma and I’ve got this really high-pressure job which requires a lot of energy.
“I knew that I had to do something because I knew that if I did something about my weight, I’d still be in the window for reversing my type 2 diabetes and hypertension.
“I’ve just had my latest blood back and my blood sugar level is now in the normal range and not the diabetic range, meaning I have put my diabetes in remission. I’m amazed at the results."
According to Diabetes.org.uk, weight loss is the strongest evidence for putting type 2 diabetes into remission.
The slimmer claims she couldn’t have achieved this without the help of Transform Healthcare’s Allurion Weight Loss Balloon and credits the programme for restoring her confidence and well-being.
Having embarked on the scheme 11 weeks ago, Alice is thrilled with the results she’s seen so far and will resume treatment with a second balloon as soon as possible.
She continued: “The balloon has significantly reduced my potion sizes and completely stopped the constant ‘food noise’ in my head’.

“I’ve even influenced my husband - we both now eat off small places and he’s lost weight too. Not only that but my asthma has dramatically improved since I lost the weight and the pupils at school have even noticed too.
“I’m really happy with the outcome so far and while I still have a long way to go, I already can’t wait to get my second balloon.”
Numerous new drugs have been designed for weight loss but the balloon has been used in medical settings for at least two decades.
Doctor Sayani Sainudeen, CEO of Transform, said: “Our programme starts with a comprehensive health screening to ensure each patient’s suitability.
“Once approved, we design a personalised plan that includes the Allurion balloon and weight loss injections. Regular check-ins and adjustments are made to ensure lasting results.
“The success of our surgical procedures has paved the way for our non-surgical programme, providing options for a broader range of patients.”
The clinic has performed more than 2,000 surgical procedures in the past 12 months, providing services to individuals with a BMI of 27-35.
