Eating foods high in protein and fibre will make weight loss much easier to achieve, as they are often filling while being low in calories.
A doctor has shared a cupboard staple that is high in these nutrients and therefore "hugely beneficial" for fat loss.
Consider adding beans to your meals, Professor Franklin Joseph of Dr Frank's Weight Loss Clinic advised.
In particular, think cannellini, red kidney and chickpeas. Beans are natural, high in protein and fibre, and tins often cost less than £1 to buy.

The health pro said: "Fibre and protein are incredibly important for anyone who is trying to lose weight, and beans have plenty of them both.
“On top of this, they are also low in calories and nutrient-dense, making them hugely beneficial if your aim is losing fat.
“Beans come in a variety of forms including cannelloni, red kidney, soy, and chickpeas, and their versatility makes them a really useful ingredient for adding protein and fibre to meals.
“However, it’s important to read the label to correctly track nutritional value as some products, including baked beans which many of us eat regularly, can come with lots of added sugar or salt.”
Unflavoured beans can easily be added to many meals, such as curries, pasta dishes and salads.
Fibre and protein are both filling nutrients, with protein also contributing to muscle growth for those who exercise regularly.
Most beans are also packed full of nutrients including potassium, magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, and vitamins B1, B6, E, and K.
Whatever you choose to eat during your weight loss journey, focus on balanced meals to get the best results.

“Focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats.
“These foods nourish your body and keep you feeling full longer, which can help prevent overeating.”
Another useful tip is the swap out simple carbohydrates, according to the health pro. He said this can help you lose up to 5lb in one month.
