While being in a slight calorie deficit is key for those who want to lose weight, limiting your calories too much is not a good idea.
A personal trainer shared the common low-calorie breakfast that may be doing slimmers more harm than good. He advised those trying to lose weight to ditch plain toast for something more substantial.
An online personal trainer known on TikTok as @tomhullput took to the sharing platform with some advice for slimmers.
In a video about "the worst thing you can do for weight loss", the expert said: "Having one single piece of toast for breakfast is a very bad idea if you're goal is to lose weight.

"And I know what you're thinking - 'Well, this is only 180 calories, so it's actually a pretty good idea' - but let me explain to you why."
He explained that while opting for a piece of butterless toast at breakfast may seem like a low-calorie option, it won't keep slimmers satiated for long.
In fact, Tom claimed that within 20 minutes, "you'll find yourself back in the fridge, back in the cupboards, looking for more food".
Instead of going for a small, low-calorie portion, the expert recommended eating something more nourishing, as this will serve slimmers more in the long-term.
He said: "We should be aiming to get decent portion sizes in all three meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner - aiming to get a good amount of protein and a good amount of volume in each one.
"This will help keep you full so you don't constantly find yourself hungry and snacking in between meals, and then your overall adherence to calories through the day is a lot better."
