Start your morning with Greek yoghurt, eggs, smoked salmon or lean meats on toast
There are countless diets out there for people who want to lose weight. But while they often promise speedy results, they can be unsustainable and potentially harmful when followed long-term.
With the right strategies, it's entirely possible to enjoy your favourite foods whilst achieving - and maintaining - excellent results.
Nutritionist Scott Baptie spoke exclusively to GB News about how slimmers can lose weight simply but effectively. One of his tips was to enjoy protein as part of every breakfast.
The expert also advised against succumbing to diet culture. He explained: "Diets are like short-term fixes - you start them, you stop them and the cycle continues.

"They're often restrictive, unsustainable and based on pseudoscience, making them unpleasant and ineffective.
"The key to success isn’t rigid rules or banning foods - it’s making small, manageable changes and enjoying everything in moderation for long-term results."
Instead of fad dieting, Scott emphasised the importance of cultivating healthy diet habits. Advising slimmers to start their morning with a generous protein source, the expert said: "Protein not only supports muscle repair but also burns more calories during digestion than carbs or fat.
"Try high-protein options like Greek yoghurt, eggs, smoked salmon or lean meats on toast.
"You can even add protein powder to porridge or whip up a smoothie with oats, protein powder and berries for a balanced start to your day. Avoid sugary cereals and opt for whole grains to keep your energy steady."
The best protein sources to include in a healthy diet are beans, peas and lentils; nuts and seeds; lean meats; fish; dairy products and soy products.
Egg is an excellent option for those who want to up their protein intake - although be sure not to pair it with a drink that hinders its benefits.
The expert also advised adhering to the rule of quarters, which Scott describes as a "simple guide for creating a balanced and healthy plate".
He advised: "Fill half your plate with green veg, one quarter with lean protein and the last quarter with carbs.
"This approach reduces calories without skimping on portion size, as veggies are nutrient-packed and low-calorie."

Finally, the nutritionist told slimmers to be mindful of how they eat as well as what they eat.
"Eating too quickly doesn’t give your brain time to register when you’re full, leading to overeating," he explained.
"Studies show that slowing down can help you eat fewer calories and even lose weight. Try eating with others, putting your utensils down between bites, or chewing more - it’s all about pacing yourself and giving your body time to signal when it’s had enough."
Keeping active is also a core component of any good slimming strategy. An expert named the best exercise routine for weight loss and it takes just 20 minutes.
