While losing weight is admittedly a difficult task, many slimmers tend to overcomplicate things.

It's entirely possible to make a major transformation without completely overhauling your diet or spending hours in a gym.

Dr Michael Chichak (MD and medical director at MEDvidi) spoke exclusively to GB News about how people can lose weight "easily and effectively at home".

The expert outlined the simple exercise and diet strategies to implement for results. One of his top tips was to do 20 to 30 minutes of movement every day.

"A healthy, active exercise regime plays a big part in weight reduction," the expert shared.

"For metabolic and fitness improvement, 20 to 30 minutes of daily physical exercise is recommended.

"Cheap equipment-less walks, home exercises, fitness video programmes and online classes are all great ways to shed excess weight."

For those who don't love working out, consider doing it with a loved one to make it more fun.

After all, "making physical activities entertaining turns them into pleasant habits".

Dr Chichak added: "Besides physiologic changes, moving your body regularly gets rid of mental fatigue, boosts energy and helps with overall wellness."

Walking is an exercise most people can incorporate into their daily routines. It's free, simple, and doesn't require exceptional fitness levels.

As for how much walking you need to do on your weight loss journey, a doctor who shed more than 7st shared how many steps to walk per day to zap fat.

Stressing the importance of enjoying a nutritious diet, the expert continued: "Having a healthy diet is another way to lose weight effectively.

"To maintain a proper balanced diet, include meat, vegetables and whole grains." For those who do not eat meat, other great sources of protein include beans, peas and lentils, nuts and seeds, dairy products and soy products.

The doctor added: "Pre-cooked meals taken to work and preparing a weekly meal plan are examples of small changes that improve dietary habits. A change in portion control can also prevent appetite suppression."

To moderate calories while still enjoying food, he suggested setting smaller plates and making mindful snacking choices."

Dr Chichak also spoke to GB News about the importance of staying hydrated and the relationship between water and weight loss.

The expert named exactly how many glasses of water to aim for per day for slimming success.

If you're on a weight loss journey, doing this safely and sustainably is essential for your health. A good place to start is the NHS's guide on how to lose weight.

Highlighting the importance of exercise, the experts advised slimmers to get active for 150 minutes a week.
