What you eat is one of the most important things to consider when you are trying to lose weight.
A diet high in protein, fibre and healthy fats can speed up the metabolism and boost your chances of losing weight, according to an expert.
Protein, fibre and healthy fats are naturally found in whole foods such as meat, fruits, vegetables and dairy.
Not only are these foods bursting with essential vitamins and nutrients, they can keep you feeling satisfied and full, chief medical advisor at the National Council on Aging Dr Raj Dasgupta exclusively shared.

He said: "To boost your fat-burning potential, include foods in your diet that are high in protein, fibre and healthy fats.
"These nutrients keep you full and help speed up your metabolism. Go for lean proteins like chicken, turkey, fish, and tofu.
"Add fibre-rich foods such as vegetables, fruits, legumes, and whole grains to your meals. Include healthy fats from avocados, nuts, seeds, and a bit of olive oil."
Eating a protein-rich diet has many benefits and studies have shown it can boost the metabolism, which is linked to how easily the body burns fat.
It is also great to eat protein when working out regularly as it helps the body to build muscle. The more muscle in the body, the more calories are burned, even when resting.
Like protein and fibre, healthy fats will also keep you feeling full for longer and Dr Raj said it is also an important group to include in your diet.
The expert added a hot drink that slimmers can also consume to boost their metabolism. He said: "Drinking green tea can help, thanks to its metabolism-boosting catechins."
This comes as experts shared the optimal amount of tea you should drink daily for a "significantly" smaller waist and to stop "piling on the pounds".
