It’s no mystery that a combination of exercise and diet will eventually lead to weight loss, but some forms of exercise work better than others.
Walking has consistently been heralded by scientists as one of the best strategies because it is so simple and accessible.
Content creator Bilan claims hitting 10,000 steps outperformed all other forms of exercise during her weight loss journey.
“If losing weight is one of your 2025 goals and you’re not going for walks, what are you doing?” she recently told viewers.

“I used to believe people were gaslighting me when they said walking made them lose weight," she said, questioning why her previous efforts at the gym weren't as effective.
"I was like, 'how am I going to the gym, weightlifting, doing 12-3-30, using the StairMaster, and not seeing results — but you’re just walking and getting results?”
Bilan explained that walking works especially well for women because it's a "neutral form of exercise".
“Therefore, it’s a lot easier to stick to than a calorie deficit," Bilan noted. “So this is your sign to get out there and just go for a walk.”
Elsewhere on her TikTok page, the content creator spoke at length about the benefits of staying in a calorie deficit and shared tips on managing hunger.
“Don’t give up on your calorie deficit,” she urged viewers. “One of the top reasons people give up is because of hunger.
She recommends drinking clove and cinnamon tea, which "has been proven to regulate blood sugar and reduce cravings".
“I had a cup of it in the morning and it made the biggest difference,” Bilan shared, adding that protein intake is equally important.
"If you prioritise protein, you'll stay full for longer, feel more satiated, and be less likely to binge," she said.

“If you prioritise protein, you’ll stay full for longer, feel more satiated, and be less likely to binge,” she explained.
For late-night hunger, Bilan suggested having a bowl of high-fibre foods.
“At night, when I’m feeling that extreme hunger, I’ll have a bowl of broccoli or cauliflower — or chia seed pudding,” she shared.
She recommended doing this even if it means slightly exceeding your calorie deficit, noting that it’s better than over-restricting and bingeing later.
